Abstract:
Changes in the germination-rate and the biochemical differences in soluble proteins and proteases in artificially aged Pinus pinea seeds have been investigated. In the aged seeds, soluble proteins decrease during the germination process, parallel to increased levels of proteases activities in both endosperms and embryos. These changes might be involved in the loss of viability.
