Epstein-Barr Virus latent membrane protein 1 (EBV LMP-1) is one of few proteins expressed during the lysogenic or latent infection cycle of Epstein-Barr Virus, a member of the herpes family also known as Human Herpesvirus 4 (HHV-4). LMP-1 is a protooncogene that is expressed in most EBV-associated human malignancies. Anti-EBV LMP-1 is useful for detecting Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg cells in classical Hodgkin's lymphoma.
